Packs

How do I invite someone to my pack?

Open the Pack tab and tap Invite to Your Pack. Send the link by Messages, Mail, or any app. When they tap it on an iPhone with AllTails, they join your pack. No AllTails yet? The link gets them the free beta on TestFlight first.

Who can I invite?

Family, a partner, a roommate, or your dog walker. Only people with your invite link can join. Nobody needs an email or password.

What do pack members see?

Your dogs' profiles and every walk with your dogs: the route, time, dogs, walker name, and note. Members can log their own walks with your dogs too. Apple Health data never goes to the pack.

I'm a dog walker. Can I join more than one pack?

Yes. Accept an invite from each client. Tap the pack name at the top of the Pack tab to switch between packs. When you walk dogs from several clients together, each client gets only the walk with their own dogs. Clients never see each other.

How do I remove someone or leave a pack?

Your pack: open the Pack tab, tap the person, and tap Remove from Pack.

Someone else's pack: switch to that pack at the top of the Pack tab and tap Leave Pack. Their dogs leave your phone. Your past walks keep their names. They can invite you again.

A walk didn't show up for my pack.

Check that both phones are online, then open AllTails again. Walks imported from Apple Health stay on the phone that imported them, so they don't go to the pack.

Walks and GPS

AllTails uses location only while a walk is running. If a route looks jumpy, allow location "While Using" and walk with a clear view of the sky for the first minute. Forgot to end a walk? Open it in the Pack tab and use Trim.

Apple Health

What does AllTails do with Apple Health?

It's optional. AllTails can save walks to Health as workouts, show heart rate from your Apple Watch, and import past walks from Health. Turn it on during setup or in the Settings app.

Does my Health data leave my iPhone?

No. Health data stays on your iPhone. Your pack gets only the route and time AllTails records itself, so a walk's distance in the pack can differ from the Health distance on your phone.

Sharing and AI cards

Does a shared route show where I live?

Every share card and replay trims about 150 m from each end of the route. A photo on a card can still show a place, so check the image before you share it.

How do AI cards and illustrations work?

They're optional. AllTails asks before it sends anything. If you say yes, it sends the photo you picked and a few walk details to an AI image service to make the picture. You need a network connection. If you cancel, nothing is sent.

The AI card failed or says I hit the limit.

Each phone can make a limited number of AI images per day. Try again tomorrow. Every other card and the replay still work without AI.

Your data

AllTails backs up your walks, dogs, and photos to our servers. Apple Health data stays on your iPhone. To delete everything, open Settings in AllTails and tap Delete Account. This deletes your account, backup, photos, and pack. Remove Health walks in the Health app.

What if I get a new phone?

On your old phone, open Settings, tap Back up your pack, and sign in with Apple. Then install AllTails on the new phone and sign in with Apple. Your dogs, walks, and packs come back.
